Team Nomads take home the 1st place trophy!
The 5th Annual CQB Challenge put on by RoundHouse Productions was held at Fort Ord in Northern California August 4th and 5th 2007. For the 3rd year in a row the Nomads were in attendance and this year proved to be bigger and better than the last. Sean and his staff found that returning teams of at least their 3rd year would need more than basic CQB tactics training to keep their attention on Saturday and they delivered with a day of live fire training and tactics that even left the staff wanting to participate.

Instructors with backgrounds in Military and Law Enforcement made for a day of excellent training. The Nomads found themselves in constant live fire training with paper targets as well as an obstacle course that would test their skills of accuracy from the kneeling, prone, upright and behind cover positions as well as firing while moving. The Nomads found Training day to be more than expected and would like to thank Doug and Alex for their instruction.
Sunday, The CQB challenge was now here and the Nomads looked forward to the 5 events that faced them. With their first event being the LE Sim, the Nomads geared up to take out the threat. When the Nomads arrived at the staging area they were briefed on the situation. The Nomads learned that a 411 occurred at the 1st National Bank and as the suspects were attempting to flee a Security Officer fired on them which forced them to retreat into the bank. With approximately 4 to 6 suspects and an unknown amount of hostages the Nomads had 15 minutes to naturalize the threat or the 1st of many hostages would be executed.

The Nomads stacked up and moved on the bank which brought them around the back to gain access through the side door. With the delivery of a flash bang, Team member Robertson breeched the door followed closely by Team members Esterbrook, Kent, Stanard and Stines. The Nomads entered with an overpowering swarm of force and terminated three suspects on the ground floor before the suspects could kill any of the hostages. With speed and diligence the Nomads headed up to the second floor where they encountered the forth and final suspect who was terminated and the bank Branch Manager was released. By saving all hostages, terminating all suspects and not losing any team members, the Nomads post a perfect score of 1000 points with a time of 3 minutes and 26 seconds.

The Nomads continued their day with 4 other events that would test their physical ability and shooting skills. The remaining events tested the Nomads skills with static targets, shot/don't shot scenarios and an obstacle course. At the end of the day, it was the Nomads in 1st place with a score of 4069 out of 5000. The Nomads had the only score above 4000. The Nomads were awarded the first place trophy and each team member was given a new AEG. The Nomads would like to thank Sean, Alex, the Staff and the sponsors for their hard work and dedication to this event.
